Melt Filter technical drawing

What is a melt filter and what is it used for?

Recycled melt may contain paper, dust, burnt particles or small foreign matter. The melt filter passes these residues through a screen pack and retains them, allowing clean melt to reach pellet cutting. This stage directly affects both the appearance and the mechanical quality of the granule.

Hydraulic screen change

Screens clog over time; in this system, the hydraulic moving structure allows the screen to be changed while disrupting the production flow as little as possible. This reduces downtime and maintains line continuity. The screen fineness is selected according to the degree of contamination of the material being processed.

Position in the line

The melt filter is positioned between the extruder and pellet cutting, and usually works together with the melt diverter.

Frequently Asked Questions

About this page

What does the melt filter clean?
It increases granule purity by retaining paper, dust, burnt particles and small foreign matter within the melt on the filter screen.
Does the screen change stop production?
The hydraulic screen-change system is designed to minimize downtime; the screen fineness is determined according to the material.
At which stage is it located?
It is positioned between the extruder outlet and pellet cutting.
