An underwater cutting (underwater pelletizer) unit that cuts the melt at the die plate under water to produce spherical, even and dust-free pellets (granules).

As the melt passing through the extruder and the melt filter exits the holes in the die plate, it is cut by blades rotating under water. Cutting under water makes the pellet spherical and homogeneous while also minimizing the dust that may form during cutting. The resulting pellets are carried and cooled by the water flow and transferred to the drying unit.
Underwater cutting stands out for its even grain geometry, low dust and stable pellet size. This positively affects the melting behavior of the granule and its processability in subsequent production. The blade set is replaceable and, as a wear part, requires periodic inspection.
Underwater cutting is positioned after the melt filter/diverter and, at its outlet, works together with the pellet-drying unit.
