HDPE / PP (Rigid Plastic) Recycling Line

A complete turnkey line where drums, barrels, crates, pallets, pipes and rigid HDPE/PP packaging are shredded and washed for recovery.

HDPE / PP (Rigid Plastic) Recycling Line

What is the HDPE / PP (Rigid Plastic) Recycling Line?

The HDPE/PP line processes rigid and bulky plastics. Bulky material is first pre-shredded by a shredder, reduced to a washable size by crushing, deep-cleaned through hot washing and friction, separated by sink-float, and dried. If desired, granules are obtained through extrusion.

Stages of the line

  • Bale opening & feeding
  • Shredder (pre-shredding)
  • Crusher
  • Hot washing + Friction
  • Sink-float (separation)
  • Mechanical drying

Who is it suitable for?

  • Facilities recovering drums, barrels, crates, pallets and pipes
  • Recyclers of rigid HDPE/PP packaging
  • Large facilities processing mixed rigid plastics

The role of HDPE and PP in recycling

HDPE is widely used in detergent and chemical drums, pipes, crates and rigid packaging. PP, on the other hand, is found in injection-molded parts, automotive components, containers and woven sacks. Since both polymers are lighter than water (with a density below 1), they float in the sink-float stage and separate from PET, labels and heavy residues. This density difference is the fundamental factor that defines the separation logic of the HDPE/PP line and, when configured correctly, delivers high-purity output.

Output: flakes or granules?

The clean flakes obtained at the end of the line can be sold directly; if desired, an extrusion stage can be added to turn the flakes into granules (pellets). Granules are a ready-to-use raw material for injection and extrusion manufacturers and often appeal to a broader range of buyers compared to flakes. Whether flakes or granules are produced is planned according to the target market, logistics and the customer's demand.

The line configuration (machine selection, capacity, dimensions and power) is determined according to your material and project. For a line design tailored to your needs, you can contact İnan Tech.

Frequently Asked Questions

About this page

Which materials are processed on an HDPE/PP washing line?
Drums, barrels, crates, pallets, pipes and rigid HDPE/PP packaging are shredded and washed, recovered as clean flakes or granules.
What stages does the line consist of?
A typical flow: size reduction (shredder/crusher), pre-washing, hot/friction washing, separation, drying and optional pelletizing. The line is engineered to your needs.
What is the line’s capacity?
Capacity is engineered according to material type and contamination level; share your target throughput and we will propose a suitable configuration.
Do you provide turnkey installation?
Yes; we provide engineering, manufacturing, shipping, installation, commissioning and operator training from a single source.
