Separates floating (PE/PP) and sinking (PET, PVC, metal) materials in water by density difference.

The sink-float separation tank agitates the flakes in a water-filled tank and separates them by density. Materials lighter than water (PE, PP) collect on the surface, while materials heavier than water (PET, PVC, metal, stone) settle to the bottom. In this way, a mixed plastic stream is separated into pure fractions.
The sink-float separation tank is the separation stage of the washing line; it separates polymers that sink in water (e.g. PET) from floating materials (e.g. PP/PE caps and labels) by density difference. It is positioned together with hot washing, particularly in PET recycling plants.
