The 1600 is a high-capacity double-shaft shredder. With two counter-rotating shafts and very high torque, it tears down the bulkiest and toughest material (drums, bales, pallets, blocks). It usually runs without a screen and produces a coarse output; it is most often used for pre-shredding (the first stage).
The DS-1600 sits in the upper-mid tier of the double-shaft series; with its wide feed and high torque, it reliably pre-shreds bulky, mixed waste. Compared with a single-shaft alternative, it delivers a coarser, volume-focused output. The neighboring models DS-1200 and DS-2000 can be reviewed.
